Professor Foster's research interests span both visual and circadian neurobiology with the main focus on the mechanisms whereby light regulates vertebrate circadian rhythms. For his discovery of non-rod, non-cone ocular photoreceptors he has been awarded the Honma prize (Japan), Cogan award (USA), and Zoological Society Scientific & Edride-Green Medals.
Feldberg Prize
I have collaborations with colleagues in Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin that date back over 25 years and so was particularly honoured and delighted to be the recipient of an award that promotes Anglo-German friendship in the biomedical sciences.
- Professor Russell Foster
In addition to the CBE, Professor Foster has also won the Feldberg Prize for 2015. The Feldberg Foundation promotes scientific contact between German and English scientists within the sphere of experimental medical research, primarily by the establishment of scientific exchange lectures.
