Alessandra Gaiani

I was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Padua, Italy, on September 2004 and I graduated on September 2010 with a Thesis entitled: " Upper motor neuron-dominant amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: clinical and functional DATSCAN evaluation”. I subsequently started my internship at the Department of Neurosciences of Padua and later I was admitted to the residency program. During my residency my research activity was mainly focused on neuromuscular diseases, but I also developed a deep interest on epileptology. On April 2016 I had the chance to spend 2 months at the Nuffield Department of Neurosciences of the University of Oxford, granted by the European Academy of Neurology.  I had the privilege to be trained by Dr. Arjune Sen, Consultant Neurologist and BRC Senior Research Fellow, head of Oxford Epilepsy group. I worked on a project examining the potential role of antibodies in new onset epilepsy. I subsequently moved back to Italy, where I completed my residency program in July 2016.
