A meeting to announce preliminary results of the thymectomy trial and to celebrate John Newsom-Davis’ achievements
The results of the Thymectomy Trial will begin to be rolled out at the end of this year. This trial was of course originally started by John Newsom-Davis (formerly Professor of Neurology in Oxford 1987 - 1998) and after his sudden death was taken forward by Henry Kaminski, Gary Cutter and others in the USA (with great persistence).
The trial team are pleased to announce that many of the collaborators and former friends and colleagues of John will attend a meeting in Oxford in early January 2016.
The meeting will be held at St Anne’s College Oxford over Friday and Saturday January 8 and 9 with a “core” meeting on the results of the Thymectomy trial running from midday Friday to midday Saturday. On either side of this there will be selected presentations from a wider range of myasthenia or even other autoimmune diseases.
This will this be an exciting event – the unveiling of the results of a trial that took over 15 years to establish and complete – but also we hope a memorial to JND.
MGTX meeting Organising Committee: MGTX: Dr Henry Kaminski, Dr Gary Cutter, Dr Gil Wolfe, Dr Inmaculada Aban. Local organizing committee: Professor Angela Vincent, Dr David Hilton-Jones, Dr Camilla Buckley, Dr Maria Isabel Leite.
