Gabriel is a final year MD candidate at the University of Melbourne, Australia with a keen interest in neurology and neuroscience. Gabriel attained his Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience & Human Anatomy) from the University of Melbourne in 2012 and went on to complete an Honours Degree (First Class) at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience & Mental Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Professor Steven Petrou’s laboratory for Ion Channels and Human Diseases. His research focuses on developing high-throughput workflows for the acquisition and analysis of large-scale neuronal networks as well as big data analysis of multielectrode arrays in cultured neuronal networks. Throughout his medical degree, Gabriel completed clinical placements in neurology and epilepsy at the University of California San Francisco and the University of Oxford, where he subsequently began working on epiRisk: an online clinical tool for estimating the risk of major congenital malformations in pregnant women treated for epilepsy.
