Anna Paola is an Ophthalmologist with subspecialist clinical training in medical retina. She completed her Medical Studies and Ophthalmology training (summa cum laude) at the Eye Clinic, Department of Clinical Science "Luigi Sacco", Sacco Hospital, University of Milan, Italy.

She is currently undertaking a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology. Anna Paola's research focuses on the development of gene therapy as a medical treatment for inherited diseases of the retina under the supervision of Professor Robert MacLaren. She combines research work with clinical work as a Medical Retina Fellow at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Anna Paola is supported by an Ermenegildo Zegna Founder's Scholarship.
