Emily-Rose Vaughan-Fowler

Clinical Research Nurse

I completed my Adult Nurse training at Oxford Brookes University in 2013. Following graduation I have worked on Neurosciences and Cardiology here at the John Radcliffe Hospital. I joined the Oxford Vascular Study back in 2016 to further develop my nursing skills, as well as pursuing a career in research.

My role here in OXVASC consists of following up patients who have had a TIA or Stroke, both in clinics and in their homes. I also recruit inpatients from the wards who have had either a TIA, Stroke, MI as well as those who suffer with PVD.  As part of the study we also recruit healthy controls to the study.

I am a member of the department's Public Engagement and Communications Committee as well as helping to set up OXVASCs first Stroke Prevention Research Advisory Group (SPRAG).

The aim of the group (SPRAG) is to involve research participants, patients and their carers in communicating their experiences of taking part in the research. I as well as collaborating with CPSD in identifying potential research topics which reflect the needs and priorities of patients and the public.
