Research Summary

My research focuses on the structural-functional organisation of the human visual system. This encompasses the relation between white matter organisation and cortical function, mapping and modelling visual sensory processing and the plastic reorganisation of visual cortex following impairment.

At FMRIB, I am part of a MRC-funded programme investigating binocular vision and stereopsis. By using non-invasive, ultra-high field MRI we can resolve brain structures and processes in fine detail, revealing the regions involved in binocular vision and the mechanisms that underpin depth perception.

Ultimately, this work aims to address fundamental biological questions about the nature of binocular vision, but also to inform clinical issues in those who experience vision impairment.
