Richard Bruce

Postdoctoral Researcher

I completed by PhD at the University of Birmingham where I was interested in the neurological control of breathing during exercise and how this may be altered, and contribute to breathlessness, in certain disease states such as heart failure and COPD.

Currently I am a post-doctoral researcher within NDCN where, as part of our research group, I am supporting the development of a medical device which can non-invasively assess cardio-respiratory function. This is being tested as a monitor for ventilated patients undergoing elective surgery and also as a pulmonary function test for outpatients with respiratory disease.
