Sleep disturbance and circadian rhythm (body clock) disruption are posited to share common underlying neural dysregulation with several psychiatric disorders. By studying populations with psychiatric tendencies, along with the use of behavioural models, I aim to help elucidate the biological associations between sleep disturbance and mental health. Through this, my research also aims to gain a greater understanding of the function of sleep including its role in learning and memory.
