New study discovers that robust memory of a previous event prevents new flexible memories from being formed
6 September 2024
Researchers at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit have discovered a new neuronal mechanism in the hippocampus, that prevents new ‘flexible’ memories from being formed due to a past ‘robust’ memory.
Study outlines feasibility of multiple disease risk prediction model for primary care
31 May 2024
A team of researchers led by a researcher in RDM, but which also includes researchers in NDCN, Population Health and Experimental Psychology, have found that a single, integrated health check carried out in a primary care setting can accurately predict risks for diseases across multiple organs.

Immediate aspirin after mini-stroke substantially reduces risk of major stroke
19 May 2016
Publication Research Stroke & Dementia
Using aspirin urgently could substantially reduce the risk of major strokes in patients who have minor ‘warning’ events, a group of European researchers led by Peter Rothwell has found. Writing in the Lancet, the team say that immediate self-treatment when patients experience stroke-like symptoms would considerably reduce the risk of major stroke over the next few days.
