Research Optometrist

Shabnam is a research optometrist. She graduated from City, University of London with a degree in Optometry and completed her dissertation under Professor John Barbur focused on the relative contributions of rod, cone photoreceptors and ipRGCs to the pupil response. During this time, she received the Hospital Saturday Fund scholarship to intern at LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India which prompted an interest in rare ocular diseases.

Shabnam joins Professor Robert MacLaren’s lab with a developing interest in visual function in inherited retinal diseases. She was the recipient of The Ian Fraser Cup at the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress in 2023.

Collaborators
