I am a clinician with an interest in neuroinflammatory diseases, especially multiple sclerosis (MS), and computational biology.
After obtaining my primary medical degree with an intercalated BA in Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge, I completed several years of postgraduate clinical training in various London teaching hospitals with specialty training in Neurology.
I was awarded a Clinical Research Training Fellowship, jointly funded by the Association of British Neurologists and Guarantors of Brain, to complete a DPhil at the University of Oxford, working within the Oxford Centre for Neuroinflammation.
My doctoral research leveraged high-efficacy MS therapies as perturbational probes to characterise pathogenic immune interactions across disease stages and tissue compartments, using samples from people with MS. To effectively isolate conserved treatment effects from inter-donor heterogeneity and technical noise, I developed a bespoke computational analytical pipeline for in vivo drug perturbation analysis using longitudinal single-cell data from clinical cohorts.
Using this approach, I identified a distinct chronically activated, proinflammatory–cytotoxic, tissue-homing, and residency-primed memory T cell state, plausibly linked to chronic latent EBV infection in memory B cells, and integrated these findings into a model of a pathogenic B–T cell axis in MS. This model may bridge peripheral immune activation to the chronic, compartmentalised CNS inflammation responsible for treatment-resistant, relapse-independent disability progression, offering new implications for future therapeutic strategies.
I am now advancing this work as a postdoctoral researcher while completing my final year of specialty training.
