Understanding Stroke at Younger Ages
While stroke has become less common in older adults, research by our group and others has shown that the incidence of stroke is increasing among people under the age of 55. The reasons for this trend remain unclear, and its long-term consequences are not yet fully understood.
This study aims to:
- Understand the burden and long-term impact of stroke in younger adults across the UK.
- Investigate the contribution of both traditional and emerging risk factors to stroke at younger ages.
Ultimately, our goal is to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and management of stroke in younger adults.
