Founded in 1988, the Royal Society Trivedi Book Prize celebrates the best popular science writing from across the globe, championing non-fiction books that use captivating narratives to open up science to a wider audience and embody the joy of science writing.

Our Brains, Our Selves: What a Neurologist's Patients Taught Him About the Brain by Masud Husain, Professor of Neurology & Cognitive Neuroscience, weaves the stories of people with brain disorders with neuroscience, elements of social psychology and personal memoir.

The book was chosen as winner from a shortlist of six books and the announcement was made by Sir Adrian Smith, President of the Royal Society, at an award ceremony and dinner at the Royal Society on Wednesday 1 October

Professor Husain says 'I’m thrilled to have been awarded this prize. It’s my first book for the public and I hadn’t anticipated anything like this level of interest or recognition.'
