Many congratulations to Andreas Themistocleous on being awarded an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship.
MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowships provides funding for registered healthcare professionals to establish themselves as independent investigators.
Andreas' research investigates chronic neuropathic pain and how abnormal activity in nerve fibers contributes to this debilitating condition. By using microneurography, a highly specialised and novel neurophysiological tool, he can directly measure nerve activity to identify patterns that relate to an individual’s pain experience. This personalised approach can lead to more effective and targeted treatments for those suffering from chronic pain.
Andreas says
The MRC clinician scientist fellowship represents an important and exciting step in my career. It will enable me to build my own research group and integrate my clinical background with my research ambitions. This fellowship will help me establish myself as a researcher in this field and empower me to make meaningful contributions to our understanding and treatment of neuropathic pain.
