Ana Aragón-González

iPSC-based modelling of Parkinson's Disease

As a post-doctoral researcher, my focus is on studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and dementia. Previously, I conducted research on the dynamics of the Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) in the context of Motor Neuron Disease.

Currently, at the University of Oxford, I utilize CRISPR to deactivate genes in human i-PSCs-derived Dopaminergic Neurons. In our lab, we investigate the cellular trafficking and aggregation of α-synuclein. To identify modifiers of its turnover and aggregation related to our target genes, I employ various biochemical and microscopy techniques.

I hope my work on Parkinsons’ genetic features can ultimately benefit patients.
