Research interests

I am interested in methods development for brain imaging studies. My research focuses on understanding the relations between diffusion MRI and brain functional organization. The findings may lead to developing new tools to predict brain responses to novel stimuli merely based on structural or task free imaging data.

I did an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. In my thesis, I implemented a state of the art convolutional neural network on a graphics processing unit for the classification of handwritten digits. Afterward, I did an M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence at University of Tehran, Iran, which helped me to develop skills in machine learning and data sciences. In my master’s thesis, I studied neural circuits involved in decision making and developed a computational model for decision making in volatile environments.

Upon completion of the Master’s program, I got a research position in the bio-math department at the Institute for Physics and Mathematics (IPM) in Tehran. There I studied resting-state dynamics of brain networks through simultaneous EEG and fMRI recording. It was a brilliant opportunity for me to gain valuable experience in brain imaging data recording and analysis.
