Research Summary
I am a Research Assistant with the NeuroMetrology Lab. I completed my MSc Neuroscience Rotation project in the lab investigating how motor symptoms progress longitudinally in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy patients using wearable sensors. As a research assistant, I have extended this work to include Parkinson’s patients, and symptom responses to medication and Deep Brain Stimulation. I have contributed to the collection and analysis of data from digital sensors in these patient cohorts, which was involved computational methods and Machine Learning techniques.
More recently, my main focus has been on Telemedicine and the capturing of disease symptoms in Parkinsonian patients using wearable smart devices in the home environment. In conjunction with collecting and analysing data from these devices, I coordinate digital sessions with the participants and liaise with international collaborators to ensure the successful implementations of our protocols and that patient needs are met. As well as quantitative analysis, I perform qualitative work to understand participant experience with remote monitoring to gauge feasibility of such approaches in larger clinical trials.
I lead Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities within the study and established the first OxQUIP PPI committee. Hosting meetings both online and in-person, we work together to ensure engagement with the participant cohort is integral to our study aims and outputs. Additionally, EDI is an area I am keenly interested in, and I am working with Prof. Antoniades, our participant cohort, and the wider community to ensure our study is inclusive and equitable at every level.
In addition to the information above, I partake in activities for the group such as poster design, website development, and dissemination of research material.
