- Consultant Neurologist
I am a neurologist with an interest in cerebral haemodynamics. This is why, as a researcher and as a clinician, I have developed a specific interest in cerebrovascular diseases and in applying ultrasound to the study of cerebral circulation. “Neurosonology” is the word that describes this application of ultrasound, and I have been interested in Neurosonology since I was training as a neurologist at the University of Verona, in Italy. After my training in Neurosonology in Italy and in Germany, I became a member of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Haemodynamic, and of the scientific board of the Italian Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Haemodynamic. Before moving to Oxford in 2013, I have worked as a neurologist at Verona University Hospital where I set up and led the Neurosonology lab.
In Oxford I am working at the Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia of NDCN, where I set up the Neurosonology lab for the Oxford Vascular study (OXVASC).
I am also one of the consultants of the Stroke Team at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospital Foundation Trust, and I collaborate with the OUH Paediatric Haematology group on the TCD screening programme for children with sickle cell disease within the Tertiary Paediatric support of OUH patients with Sickle Cell Disease at Milton Keynes Hospital
As a neurologist, I work as a consultant at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
