Research Assistant

Tiffany Johnpulle

Hello! I am Tiffany, a research assistant in the Becker Lab. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Surrey with a year in industry as a research assistant at Kings College London and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. I recently graduated with an MRes in Translational Neuroscience from University College London where I investigated the potential of Msh3 as a disease modifying therapeutic target in lowering mutant huntingtin expression in the striatum of HdhQ111 mice at 6 months. My research interests are strongly tailored towards fundamental discovery and translational neuroscience research:  investigating specific or common underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms that induce and exacerbate neurodegenerative diseases. More importantly, utilizing this knowledge to identify and validate novel disease-modifying therapeutic targets to effectively alter disease trajectories and biomarkers for earlier diagnosis.

I am currently undertaking a preliminary research project, investigating the underlying molecular mechanisms driving cerebellar atrophy and degeneration in spinocerebellar ataxia sub-type 29 (SCA29) using the group's SCA29 mouse model .
