Anna Li

DPhil Student

I am a second year OXION DPhil student co-supervised by Dr Yin Dong from NDCN and Associate Professor Alex Bullock from CMD. I am interested in studying the structures and functions of the muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR) as well as the SLC1A family of amino acid transporters - both of which are membrane proteins implicated in neurological disorders. I am currently working on protein expression and purification with a goal to solve their 3D structures using Cryo-EM.

Previously, I completed my Bachelor of Biomedicine with Honours at the University of Melbourne, Australia. During my research year at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, I characterised a pathogenic mutation in Cav2.1 associated with epileptic encephalopathy.
