MULTIMODAL IMAGING TO CHARACTERISE DISEASE DYNAMICS IN AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS
How can multimodal neuroimaging identify quantitative markers of neurodegeneration? My research investigates how we can apply integrated neuroimaging methods to identify markers of pathology in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is the most common form of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). It is characterised by the rapid loss of motor control, typically resulting in death within two to three years.
More specifically, I am interested in recent advances in neuroimaging that offer unprecedented spatial (e.g., 7T-MRI) and temporal resolution (e.g, MEG, laminar MEG). My work aims to utilise these methods to detect early changes to the brain in ALS, and in other neurodegenerative diseases in the future.
I am funded by the Oxford-GSK Institute for Molecular and Computational Medicine (IMCM), which is part of the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM).
