Amin Atashgaran

BSc, MBiol (Hons)

DPhil Candidate / Research Assistant

Extracellular vesicles in biomarker discovery and disease mechanisms of synucleinopathies

Biography

Amin holds an integrated Masters degree in Neuroscience from the University of Leeds. He was awarded with the Beaumont Award for his Masters project, focused on developing cryogenic electron microscopy methods for structural biology of neurodegenerative diseases, at the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory. During his studies, Amin also completed a year-long research placement, focused on (epi)genomics of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, at the Mayo Clinic in Florida.

Research interests

Amin is currently a DPhil candidate, supervised by Professor George Tofaris, at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford. He is interested in discovering the role of extracellular vesicles in synucleinopathies using structural biology and transcriptomics methods.
