Bernd Taschler

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

My main research interests include population level modelling, questions of causality and statistical inference in high-dimensional neuroimaging data.

Since 2023 I am part of the Oxford-Novartis collaboration at the Big Data Institute led by Tom Nichols. I'm working closely with Habib Ganjgahi and Tom's NISOx group. My main research focus at the moment is on modelling disease progression in MS, using large-scale trial data.

Before joining the BDI, I was part of the FMRIB Analysis group led by Steve Smith, and prior to coming to Oxford I was a postdoc in Sach Mukherjee's group at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn.

Causality in neuroimaging

Bayesian modelling, Mendelian randomisation, sources of bias, modelling assumptions, GWAS, imaging derived phenotypes, advanced ML/AI and stats.

Longitudinal and population modelling

Normative modelling, progression, clinical outcomes in MS, survival models, prediction, UK Biobank.
