Bernd Taschler

Postdoctoral Researcher

My main research interests include population level modelling, questions of causality and inference methods in high-dimensional neuroimaging data (both in terms of large sample sizes and large numbers of variables).

Since 2023 I am part of the Oxford-Novartis collaboration at the Big Data Institute led by Tom Nichols. I'm working closely with Habib Ganjgahi and Tom's NISOx group. My main research focus at the moment is on modelling disease progression in MS, using large-scale trial data.

Before joining the BDI, I was part of the FMRIB Analysis group led by Steve Smith, and prior to coming to Oxford I was a postdoc in Sach Mukherjee's group at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn.

Causality in neuroimaging

Mendelian randomisation, Bayesian networks, bias, assumptions, GWAS data and imaging derived phenotypes.

Longitudinal and population modelling

Brain age prediction, modelling of confounds, UK Biobank.

normative modelling

Individual deviation scores in MS populations, prediction, time-to-event analyses.
