Sara Bolívar Martín

Postdoctoral Researcher

I joined the Neural Injury Group in October 2023 as a post-doctoral research scientist. My research focuses on understanding the differences between peripheral neuron sub-populations following neuronal damage. I am particularly interested in how these afferents contribute to neuropathic pain resulting from chemotherapy treatment and nerve injury. Using behavioural assays, chemogenetic silencing, histology and in vitro models, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the physiology of neuropathic pain and explore potential therapeutic approaches to this condition.

I obtained my BSc in Biomedicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I then completed a MSc in Neurosciences, followed by a PhD in Neuroscience, where I studied the regeneration of peripheral neuron sub-types after nerve injury in the Neuroplasticity and Regeneration Group (Barcelona).

I am an active member of the Clinical Neurosciences Society at NDCN, and I am committed to bringing people in the department together through social and fundraising activities.
