Short Bio
Arjun Padmanabhan, PhD is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Retinal Disease and Repair lab headed by Prof.Dr.Kanmin Xue since 2026. He holds a PhD in Genomics and Experimental Medicine( 2025; "Summa cum laude" ) from the Scuola Superiore Meridionale-University of Naples Federico II, where he worked in the laboratory of Prof. Dr.Alberto Auricchio at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM). His doctoral research focused on developing a human-centric genome editing approach for Autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa due to Rhodopsin mutations(RHO) . He subsequently continued as a postdoctoral fellow in the same laboratory, focusing on safety considerations in genome editing and contributing to studies on characterisation of novel AAV serotypes for enhanced efficacy in the retina.
His current research interests in the Xue lab, center on developing scalable genome engineering platforms to enable mutation-agnostic therapeutic strategies and to advance gene editing approaches toward clinical translation for inherited retinal disorders.
