Joel Quinn

Joel is a 2nd year Clinical Neurosciences DPhil student in the Retinal Disease and Repair Lab under the supervision of Dr. Kanmin Xue. After graduating from Imperial College London with 1st Class Honours in a BSc in Biochemistry, he then completed an MRes in Drug Discovery and Development at Imperial College, graduating with Distinction under the supervision of Dr. David Mann. After a short Research Assistant position at Imperial College, he took on a Research Assistant role with Dr. Kanmin Xue before continuing onto his DPhil studies.
Joel's work focuses on understanding the interplay between the blood-retinal barrier, immune system and neuroinflammation in the context of complex retinal diseases, namely non-infectious uveitis and age-related macular degeneration. This work is in parallel with researching novel biological and genetic therapies to treat these diseases.
