Lucy Ridgway
DPhil Student
Biography
I am a DPhil student in the Neuromusculoskeletal Health and Science Lab supervised by Prof Annina Schmid and Dr. Georgios Baskozos.
Since graduating as a physiotherapist from Keele University in 2004 I have worked clinically across a wide range of healthcare settings, developing an interest in working with people with complex painful conditions. I am strongly motivated by the need for better explanations and treatments for people with pain. This motivation has led me to combine clinical work with studying neuroscience, completing an MSc in Neuroscience and now coordinating the FORECAST Study and studying for a DPhil within the NMHS lab.
My current research is focused on understanding different mechanisms that underly sciatica (spine-related leg pain), and exploring prognostic factors that could predict whether people with sciatica will recover or develop persistent pain.
