Research Summary
My research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of neuropathic pain. I use a combination of techniques, such as microneurography, threshold tracking, intraepidermal nerve fibre density assessment and quantitative sensory testing, to assess the functional and structural integrity of the peripheral nervous system. These techniques allow me to explore peripheral neuronal processing in patients suffering from peripheral neuropathy. Most of my current research is focused on characterising the somatosensory, histological and electrophysiological phenotype of patients with diabetic neuropathic pain.
