Congratulations to the following members of NDCN, who have been awarded the title of Professor in the recent Recognition of Distinction exercise.

Left to right: Chrystalina Antoniades, Stuart Clare, Simon Rinaldi

Titles of Full Professor are conferred annually in recognition of an individual's significant influence on their field of study, as well as their track records in teaching and academic citizenship.

Chrystalina Antoniades

Chrystalina Antoniades, Professor of Clinical Neuroscience, is the Head of the NeuroMetrology Group and Director of Graduate Studies at NDCN. Her research aims to improve our ability to accurately diagnose conditions like Parkinson’s Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy at the earliest possible stage, and then monitor their progression. She uses a variety of quantitative experimental methods, based on precise measurement of subtle abnormalities of the speed and coordination of various movements such as saccades (fast eye movements), hand movements, and gait.  This data is then analysed using a range of methods including both classical machine learning techniques and deep neural networks. She works closely with partners in industry to drive the adoption of these novel techniques into clinical trial protocols and sits on several related regulatory bodies and advisory boards internationally.

Stuart Clare

Stuart Clare, Professor of Practice in Neuroimaging, is Director of Operations at the Oxford University Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (OxCIN).  He leads the core staff team at OxCIN, facilitating the broad range of basic and clinical neuroscience research that goes on in the Centre.  Stuart is passionate about communicating research to the general public including work with schools, museums and patient groups.  He also plays a leading role in the University’s work on career development and recognition of those in technical roles.

Simon rinaldi

Simon Rinaldi, Professor of Neurology, is the Clinical Director of the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Diagnostic Laboratory, an Honorary Consultant Neurologist and has been awarded MRC Senior Clinical Fellowship. Simon leads the University of Oxford's programme of research into the inflammatory neuropathies. His research explores the immunopathological basis of these disorders and spans from antibody discovery and fluid biomarker development to clinical trials and phenotyping.
