As part of the ongoing implementation of the Pay & Conditions Review recommendations, we are pleased to announce that a new Researcher Pay Scale has been introduced which will be live on the University’s HR System, PeopleXD, from 24 September 2024. It includes an additional spine point at the top of the discretionary range.

Who will be affected?
This new pay scale applies to staff on Standard University Grades 6-10, whose roles are primarily focused on research.

What does this mean?
Any role which has been classified as a Researcher will transition to the new scale on 24 September. They will remain on the same grade and spine point as they currently are, and aside from the Oxford University Weighting, there will be no additional pay increase associated with the move to this new pay scale. Pay grades will change from the current format (e.g. 06S) to include an 'R' denoting the Research category (e.g. 06RS).

These changes are separate from additional changes that may be implemented as part of the Academic Career Reward Framework project. Further details regarding that project and its scope can be found on the Academic Career Reward Framework project website. If you or your role is impacted by that project, the HR Systems Team will be in touch with further details as the project develops.

In the short term, there is nothing any affected member of staff needs to do. Your information will be automatically updated on the HR system and will be visible to you in HR Self-Service starting from 24 September.

If anyone has any questions, please contact the NDCN HR Team: hr@ndcn.ox.ac.uk
