Communicating your research
Working with the media
Contact communications@ndcn.ox.ac.uk as early as possible to discuss any news you may have (such as a noteworthy paper or significant grant) and we can advise on the most appropriate channel for your news.
Your news item may be:
- issued as a press release
- written up for the NDCN website
- published online elsewhere, such as The Conversation.
Read advice from the University's Public Affairs Directorate on communicating your research.
Social Media
Share your news on NDCN socials
NDCN currently has profiles on BlueSky and LinkedIn which are managed by the Communications team.
We use these channels to:
- Explore NDCN research
- Celebrate the achievements of staff and students
- Publicise NDCN study opportunities and courses
Please get in contact via communications@ndcn.ox.ac.uk or tag NDCN in your post if you'd like us to share your news.
We also collaborate with other departments and the central University Social Media team to create content for their channels, which include TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
This content is usually around specific news releases or topical awareness days. Please get in touch with communications@ndcn.ox.ac.uk if you have an idea for a social media project.
Research project and group social media accounts
Building a presence for a group or project on social media account takes considerable time and commitment, so consider available resource and appropriate channels before you dive in.
The University Social Media team offers comprehensive guidance on using social media which covers
- Social media guidance for academics
- Social media takeover guidelines
- Social media safety and wellbeing
- An overview of channels and how to create a social media presence
